When you tell people you're from Colorado The first thing they'll use are Oh John Denver. Brown stated. Take Me Home Country Roads was co-written by Bill Danoff - was Denver's first Top 10 single as a solo performer after a brief period in small folk ensembles. Danoff composed the track in the spirit of Johnny Cash, but Denver discovered an early version of the song and realized it was going to be a top 10 hit. The song was first recorded a few weeks after the Washington D.C. performance.
